Nightlight Psychiatric Care

Faith Carroll, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

You and I …. we just may make a great team! Because sometimes the light at night isn’t quite bright enough to find the way alone.

Hi, I’m Faith, and I thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you. Perhaps you haven’t thought about the concept of teamwork when it comes to seeing a psychiatric provider, but I’m talking about you and me as a team. I am not the expert when it comes to you. You are. Your role on our team is to bring me your expert knowledge of you. My role is to join you on this portion of your journey that involves choosing and evaluating the effectiveness of medications to treat distressing symptoms.

Inherent in my role is to listen to you carefully, and provide information and guidance. I must warn you that my listening process involves asking a lot of questions in order to clarify and prioritize how to approach treatment. Sharing your expertise about yourself enables me to optimize my expertise and experience in psychiatry to achieve our common goal of getting you feeling better. If more than one treatment option is appropriate, this is when I will offer information and guidance for you to make the decision you feel is best for you. The final decisions are always yours.

Why choose Nightlight?

Because this process is so personal, and because it takes time to build a team. Our initial meeting will take up to two hours, and subsequent appointments up to 45 minutes. Humans are complicated. Human interactions are also complicated. Now throw in symptoms, medical history, social history, medications, side effects and .…. well, I trust you get the picture. I’ve been accused many times of being very thorough. As imprecise as psychiatry can be, I am committed to and passionate about being as precise as it can get. I pledge to do my best to help you discover you and to allow you to be your best.

Because that just may make the difference in clarifying where the path may be.
